“Oh what a night!”
That’s the talk of the town. NSWN 2008.
What a night indeed, probably one of the largest events on the UC Berkeley campus hosted by Kairos, A2F, and Koinonia. I still remember just a few years back when I attended my first NSWN and being so impressed with the special music, hilarious video and thought provoking perspective on college life by Pastor Ed of Gracepoint Fellowship Church. And somehow in that mix, I met a new role model and friend, Isaac, whose now starting a new church in Austin, and met some buddies that I consider as life-long friends. It’s a friendship that has been built on elements of topdogs, bonfires, sharing inspirational dreams, hurtful late night talks and apologies, and a common passion to honor and serve God through the context of our daily lives and within the community of Christ-followers. That night probably changed the trajectory of my life for the better.
Last night’s attendance was well over 1000 and many regular attendees were kindly asked to give up their seats for the new-comers. How did NSWN1 come together? Lest we forget the many people in yellow shirts volunteering as the Welcome Team. I felt welcomed. And what about those not in yellow but were behind the scenes? Props to my buddy and former housemate before he got married, DY aka Trashman. He’s David, healthcare IT professional by day, Trash Coordinator for NSWN by night. I’ve done video editing before so I know first hand how hard that hilarious video must have been to make! Kudos to the video team! And don’t forget the amazing lights! There was a team who had set them up well before I even got there. And of course the flyering by our zealous student body. Oh, I forget how many pounds of meat had to be marinated and all this and much much more for NSWN. And boy was it worth it!
If you missed out, don’t worry, there’s still NSWN2 this Friday at 7pm @ Pauley Ball room!
Don’t be late! There were many that were not allowed into the building on Wednesday because the auditorium/overflow and balcony were filled with people stacked like sardines. Don’t be one stuck outside tomorrow! And if you do make it, say hi to my buddy DY and his team of trash bin collectors.
